Question: Who among you is willing to co-finance an apprenticeship next year and give a young Namibian a good start in their working life?to the training initiative

Namibia has weathered the COVID-19 wave well. For weeks, the incidence rate has remained at five (5). Mask mandates and quarantines were officially lifted in recent days. Those who want to protect themselves voluntarily wear a mask, and those who are ill self-isolate – personal responsibility is once again being emphasized. The vaccination rate is very low at approximately 16%, which is not due to a lack of vaccine, but rather to people's attitudes; hospitals are empty: COVID-19 is just one of many diseases affecting people here. Why are incidence rates still so high in Europe, even though they are falling everywhere in Africa? One opinion among educated Africans is that Europe is excessively clean and sterile. back

Church clocks tick differently in Namibia.

Many parents and guardians of the children in our soup kitchens do not have the money to have their son or daughter confirmed. They are therefore dependent on support from extended family or the generosity of the community.

For the past three years, the confirmation students of the Pfedelbach-Untersteinbach parish have been collecting donations for the confirmation students in Okombahe. Yvonne and Albertina give special consideration to those who regularly attend the soup kitchen due to their need and also participate in the children's church service. In 2021, the confirmation class in Untersteinbach raised €510, which enabled them to support 13 young people.

The confirmation service was once again a very festive occasion on Saturday, November 27th, and on Sunday the young people received their first Holy Communion. On the three following Sundays, the confirmands are expected to attend church services in their festive attire. The Okombahe parish extends its heartfelt thanks for this generous contribution to the confirmands. back
