Small Christmas gifts from Namibia and from Germany
On the third Sunday of Advent, from Friday, December 13th, to Sunday, December 15th, the Namibia Support Association (Namibia-Unterstützungsverein e.V.) had a Christmas stall in the castle courtyard at the Öhringen Christmas market. In addition to small African and German Christmas gifts, they offered Namibian winter soup (with corn and chicken) and vegetarian Ovambo soup (with pumpkin and sweet potatoes). They also sold fair-trade Elephant Cocoa and Elephant Coffee, each with or without Amarula liqueur, and homemade cookies (Brödle). Unfortunately, it rained on two days.
All proceeds from food, drinks, and sales go 100% to school and children's projects in Okombahe, Omaruru, and Windhoek. This funding supports, among other things, the two soup kitchens, the toy library, and the 65 students in five student dormitories.Back from Namibia
Six weeks ago I informed you that I would soon be flying to Namibia again – as always at my own expense – and what I intended to accomplish there.
I was able to discuss, think through, and advance many of these things with the local people in Okombahe.
I visited and spoke with all 70 students supported by the association, who live in the five student residences in Okombahe, Omaruru, and at the Martin Luther High School. I was able to discuss emerging problems with those in charge and agree on new procedures for the coming school year. One example is the purchase of school uniforms, which are no longer all available in Omaruru; some have to be ordered from Windhoek.
The two soup kitchens, which both operate three times a week in Okombahe, are running well, according to locals and participants. The soup kitchen for young children serves approximately 80 children, while the other soup kitchen, for students in grades 8-10 who don't get lunch, is used by about 40 students, who then return to their afternoon classes refreshed and energized. Evaluation in Namibia
65 pupils in five student dormitories, two soup kitchens, one for toddlers and one for secondary school pupils, a toy library as an early childhood education center, a children's church service partnership, two supported kindergartens, a health station and contact with the two state schools - all projects in Okombahe, a place in Namibia off the beaten track.
All these projects of the Namibia support association from Pfedelbach are only running so well because of the personal relationships that have been built up with the local people in recent years.
In the spring, Mr. and Mrs. Knoche visited and further developed all these projects, establishing personal contact with the 65 students. Now, at the end of the Namibian school year, it's time to meet many people again on site, see what has changed, and evaluate how and in what way the projects should be further supported or newly planned after the long summer break over Christmas.
Therefore, the chairman, Joachim Knoche, will fly to Namibia for 3 ½ weeks at the end of October to evaluate the many projects and further develop them with the people on site.
In addition, official contacts are to be established with various ministries in order to, on the one hand, establish a Namibian association on site that will organize and carry out some projects itself in the medium term, and on the other hand, to register the German association in Namibia as a non-governmental organization (NGO).
If any of you can imagine actively participating in Germany or during the trips to Namibia, please feel free to contact the board.

They were at the Pfedelbach beer village on
Friday, September 6th and Saturday, September 7th, 2019
We from the Namibia Support Association were there too!
We had the following to drink:
- Windhoek Camp,
- Dju-Dju-Beer (Mango and passion fruit),
- Rock Shandy
(a Namibian soft drink with almost no alcohol!)
- Jever
Fun
(alcohol-free) and Bionade
We had the following for dinner:
- Namibian bratwurst “Boerewors” and the Cornmeal "Miliepap" with hot sauce or "sweet" Have you tried it?
They ate and drank for a good cause!
This entire profit (approx. €1000) goes directly to the village of Okombahe with its two soup kitchens and to the further development of the children's environment or to the costs of the student residence, in order to support needy parents in paying for their children's education.
Thank you so much for being there and supporting us.
Am 31. Mai fand ein tolles Konzert der African Vocals
in Neuenstein in der vollen Stadtkirche statt. Das Konzert dauerte zweieinhalb Stunden und begeisterte die Anwesenden.

Married couple Margret and Joachim Knoche
They spent four and a half weeks in Namibia visiting the association's projects. They dedicated a significant amount of time to the two soup kitchens, the five supported schools, the 65 students in the dormitories, and the toy library. During their visit, they spoke with those responsible on-site and further developed the projects, which receive regular financial support from several individuals in the region.
They also spent almost a week in southern Namibia with the wild horses, the "Namibs", and in the coastal town of Lüderitz.
On April 30th, during the men's choir's "May Festival," a detailed report on their trip and the choir's projects was presented in a separate room. Beautiful pictures and personal impressions transported the audience to the fascinating, yet also conflicted, country of Namibia.

Hier eine kurze Zusammenfassung der Vereinstätigkeit 2018
Namibia-Verein sagt DANKE
